Obituary

"Your Wings Were Ready, But Our Hearts Were Not"

Helen Lewis Sellers was granted her angel wings on February 23, 2022 with family and friends at her side. She was born to the late French Lewis and Mary Artis Lewis in Norfolk County (Chesapeake Virginia) on April 21, 1937 she was the oldest of four girls.

Helen attended school in Norfolk County (Chesapeake, Virginia). She was a generous giving person, she touched the lives of many with her hospitality and beautiful smile. She was known for wearing her western hats (cowboy hats). She loved her family. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Helen lived an amazing and wonderful life. Helen was a Civil Service Worker for the U.S. Government at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital where she retired after 30 years of services as a Laundry Supervisor.

Helen was a member of First Baptist Church Money Point Chesapeake, Virginia where she served on the Women's Usher Board until her health prevented her from serving. She loved her family church (FBMP) where her mother was a member for over 85 years. She would do anything for the church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Sellers of 15 years, her companion John Cox of 40 plus years. Helen leaves to cherish her many memories her son Reynaurd Lewis Sr. of Norfolk, Virginia and her daughter Maria Lewis of Chesapeake, Virginia. Four sisters, Joyce Mason, Brenda Epps both of Chesapeake, Virginia, Carrodena Johnson of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Kathyrn Hines of Norfolk, Virginia One uncle, Herbert Artis of Chesapeake, Virginia, Four grandchildren, Reynaurd Lewis Jr., Deontia Evan, Darius Lewis Sr. and Ja'Net Lewis Fourteen great grandchildren, D'Quan Lynch (Crystal), Reynaurd Lewis III, Reginald Lewis, Ziyad Barnes, Tae'jahon Lewis, Tyiea Baxter, Tyeontae Baxter, Le'Saun Baxter, Darius Lewis Jr., De'asia Hines, Journei Newsome, A'niyla Lewis, Da Marqius Wiggins and Malaysia Warren. Two great-great grandchildren Lyric Lynch and Harmony Lynch. Three Godchildren Joseph Smith, Yolanda Williams and Keejafee Outlaw. A special niece DeRue Heard and a special bonus son Karlton Cox. A host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am  Friday, March 4, 2022 at Olive Grove Baptist Church,1034 Albert  Avenue, Norfolk. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 5pm until 7pm Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
