On October 1, 2022, Henry Rawls Sr. surrounded by his family, answered the master's call and transitioned from this earthly tabernacle, to his heavenly eternal home at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife Thelma T. Rawls; daughter Kennette L. Rawls; son Keon L.Rawls; four grandchildren Keona L. Rawls, Andre L. Rawls, Makyrah Rawls, and James Everett Jr.; three great grandchildren and twelve god children; two sisters Vernice Darden and Barbara Moore; one aunt Serena Eason; two uncles Bernard Upshur, and Donald Eason Sr. (Betty; mother-in-law Rev. Lillie M. Gray; two sisters-in-law Rev. Alvania Eason, and Jean Griffin; three brothers-in-law Edwin Eason Sr., Rev. Coston Griffin, and Calvin Gray Jr., and ahost of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, at First Baptist Church South Hill, 3633 Galberry Road, Chesapeake, where viewing be immediately following the service.  Interment will follow at the Riddick-Eason Family Cemetery. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrandgements.
