Obituary

Portsmouth – Hilton Hardison, Sr., 85, of the 800 block of Cavalier Boulevard departed this life on February 17, 2011. He retired from Portsmouth Naval Hospital after twenty-two years of employment. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board and the Brotherhood Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 190.

He is predeceased by his wife, Marie O. Hardison. Survivors include, a daughter, Ouida M. Haynes (Avis) of Portsmouth; four sons, Hilton Hardison, Jr. (Gwen) of Chesapeake, Maurice I. Hardison also of Chesapeake, Eric J. Hardison (Brenda), and Christopher M. Hardison both of Portsmouth; one brother, James Batts, Jr. of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3pm – 6pm, Monday, February 21, 2011. The family will receive friends from 5pm – 6pm on Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
