IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Inez Griffin
Skinner
September 25, 1936 – November 3, 2020
Our beloved Inez Griffin Skinner (Sam) departed this live November 3, 2020. Inez was born in South Hampton county where she obtained her early education. Her family later moved to Norfolk where she lived for the majority of her life. She traveled around the world as a military spouse and settled back in her native Norfolk.
Sam or "Silver Fox" as most called her was a retired shipyard worker, after retiring she later attended Keys Business College and also obtained her certification as a home health aid. She worked various jobs, one of which she loved the most was being a nanny to Kaitlyn, Kyle and Evan King. She was a devoted member to Faith and Deliverance Christian Center where she found a loving church family. Sam loved spending time with her family, friends and her baby Tomalie (her dog), she also loved sewing, cooking and playing cards.
Inez married John Skinner in 2009 after years of friendship and they lived happily together until her departure. She leaves to cherish her husband John Skinner Sr.; stepdaughters Sheila Welch, Clematine Skinner; stepson John Skinner Jr.; nieces Bertha Dye, Gwendolyn Griffin, Kisha Robinson, Junlene Ricks, Crashell Jackson, Deatrice Ricks, Lorraine and Jennifer Johansky; nephews Robert and Wallace Griffin, Arnold Lankford, Darren and Marcus Sumblin, Michael, Antonio, Shawn, Jason and Eric Hines; a special cousin Annie Mae Wilson, and a Goddaughter Joyce Stevens.
Inez lived a remarkable life and she was an extraordinary person to all. There was nothing she wouldn't do to help a person even if it was only advice. She took care of all her immediate family members at their time of need and she was the last of her mothers children left. She was very strong willed and independent, a true gem to us all and she will truly be missed.
