Obituary

On Monday, September 13, 2021, the LORD called our beautiful precious jewel, Ivy Mae Leonard home to God's glory. She served the Lord on earth for 58 years. Born July 16, 1963, to the late Lela Mae Rawls and Isaiah Carroll in Elmore County, Alabama, she was the first of ten family siblings.

Ivy was a faithful servant and Caregiver in providing intercultural evangelism for New Life Church Campuses and throughout the Hampton Roads Community along with other churches in the support of food and clothing distribution. Her heart's desire as a servant of the Lord was in fulfilling Philippians 2:3-4; Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit: Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. This was her lifestyle as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and servant leader to everyone whose hearts were touched by her outreach.

Ivy truly loved God and her neighbors and loved to worship and praise God individually and corporately. Her compassion and devotion insured others had what they need, and she responded with action and in truth (1 John 3:18). She was a true representative of the body of Christ, of her family, and the New Life Church Campus family. Multiple lives were blessed by her amazing and Godly influence. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all of us as a wonderful and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all.

Ivy leaves unlimited and cherishable memories to all of us who loved her dearly in the ministry of the Gospel. She will be remembered and cherished by her loving husband, Bryan Leonard; daughter Stephanie Denise Williams (Sam); son Prentice Leonard (Sharonda); grandson Sahmon Jerome Williams; granddaughter, Shamari Ivy Williams; siblings, Lonnie Rawls (Geraldine), Jackie Edwards (Elaine), Isaiah Carroll (Beverly), Brenda R. Powell, Erra Rawls, Shawn Rawls (Tan), Eric Rawls, and Jeanette Martin (Tim) all of Alabama; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Jean Holmes (Jim) of Ohio, and Felisha Davenport (Chris) of Montgomery, Alabama; brothers-in-law Pierre Leonard (Carolyn) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dennis Leonard (Fredia) of Wetumpka, Alabama , and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors.

Ivy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Willie Mae Rose, brother Willie Lee Edwards, and brother-n-law Willie Powell.

Scripture: "Beloved brothers and sisters, we want you to be quite certain about the truth concerning those who have passed away, so that you won't be overwhelmed with grief like many others who have no hope. (1 Thessalonians 4:13) (TPT)
