Portsmouth - Jacqueline C. Morgan, 63, passed away on July 7, 2008 . She was born to the late Alonzo and Lillian Custis Sr. Known for her outgoing personality and glowing smile, Jacqueline served as both a cheerleader and debutante in her school age years. She went on to graduate from George Washington Carver High School and attend Norfolk State College.

Professionally, Jacqueline worked in the field of banking for nearly 30 years before moving on to a management position with Pitney Bowes. Ultimately, she rounded out her professional career with the Signet Family Life Center of Mount Lebanon Church.

She was joined in marriage to Wendell Morgan on July 18, 1979. Together they maintained a Christian home, actively serving in the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church of Bells Mill. Previously, Jacqueline had been a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church of Norfolk. As a child she attended Antioch Baptist Church of Berkley.

She deposited a spirit of love in everyone she encountered. That love will continue to echo among her survivors including her husband Wendell Morgan , daughters Verita Buie ( Gregory ) of Woodstock , Maryland , and Yolanda Graham of Portsmouth , sisters Doris Barnes of Chesapeake and Larnell C. Butler of Baltimore, Maryland, grandchildren Brehon, Naomi, Brehona, Elisha and Breshon, and a number of nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Alonzo Custis Jr.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church , 884 Bells Mill Road , Chesapeake . Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park . Viewing will be held 2pm – 7pm Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake where the family will meet and greet friends from 6 pm – 7p.
