Virginia Beach – James Randolph Braithwaite, better known as Randy Braithwaite passed away at his residence in the 800 block of Outerbridge Quay , Virginia Beach after a long illness. Born in Virginia Beach, Randy was a graduate of Union-Kempsville High School and retired after 30 years of service from the International Longshoreman Association Local 1248.

He was predeceased by his parents, Randolph and Emma Braithwite, a brother, Jessie Braithwite and a step-daughter, Sherri Britt. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Consievella Braithwaite, three sisters, Mary Welch, Inez Braithwaite and Deloris Jones; two brothers, Anthony Braithwaite and Ned Braithwaite; three step children, Yvette Collins, Beverly Dupree and Wesley Dupree; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a dedicated care giver, Rachel Washington and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The burial will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 2pm – 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the Sentara Hospice Staff for their loving and compassionate care of our love one. The family will receive friends at the residence.
