Newport News
– James Otis Clark, "Slick", 72, residing in the 14000 block of Penrith Lane, was called home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2009. Born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, he was a member of Judah Tabernacle in Newport News, where he served faithfully. He retired from the U.S. Army and U.S. Postal Service after many years of service.



He was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Gladys H. Clark, mother, Bertha Lee King, stepfather, Hermon E. King, sister, Florence Bass and niece, Shelia Artis.



He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Cora McRaft (James) of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Hermon E. King, Jr. of Norfolk, George L. King (Marilyn) of Chesapeake and Arthur J. King (Sheri) of Norfolk; thirteen nieces and nephews, William Clark, Michael Masden, David Masden, Lewis Masden, Bertha Masden, Tonya Pruitt, Woodrina Layton, Trenton Bly, Nichole Bly, Antoine King, Lewis King, Lisa Evans and Yvonne Booker, and a host of other relatives and friends. Special recognition is extended to Mary Ganges, Rhonda Mayo and Ben Henson.



A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Judah Tabernacle. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 pm – 8 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake where viewing will began at 2pm.
