Norfolk - James Edward Durant, Sr. (Jimmy) peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Wilmington, N.C. to the late Reverend Peter Durant and Kertell Durant. He was predeceased by his wife, Demetry T. Durant, four brothers and three sisters.



Survivors include his children, Janice Holt, James E. Durant, Jr., Barbara Williams, Barbara T. Woodhouse and Derrick Brown; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, four sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.



A home going service will be held noon Friday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be held 2pm - 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
