Virginia Beach – James Phillips Harris, 86, of the 1600 block of Arcturus Lane departed this life September 29, 2010. Born in Norfolk, he was employed as a US Postal Worker for 33 years until his retirement. He was a faithful member of New Calvary Baptist Church, where is served as a board member and trustee. He was a member of American Legion Post #5.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Fuller. Survivors include his daughter, Denise Joyner of Virginia Beach; two sons, James Harris Jr. of Virginia Beach and Ronald Harris (Beverly) of Minnesota, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday from 3-7 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeke where the family will receive friends from 6-7pm.
