IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Henry
Jones, Jr.
March 11, 1972 – March 22, 2017
On Wednesday, March 22, our family circle was broken when God called home our beloved brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, James Henry Jones, Jr. James was born to the late James H. Jones, Sr. and Pearl G. Jones on March 11, 1972 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the oldest son of eight children. James attended Chesapeake Public Schools and went on to become a construction laborer.
James moved to Norfolk, Virginia where he resided for many years. One of his many hobbies was cooking. You could always hear him saying, "I'm just cooking a little bird." His kindness and patience with his nieces and nephews made him one of their favorite uncles.
James was a humble person who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was reserved but he had a close knit circle of great people around him, to include his uncle Albert Carter and his siblings. James had a sweet disposition and would give you his last dollar. He was affectionately known as Tank and never complained about anything, and always gave you words of encouragement. He was witty and loved to laugh. No situation was a defeated situation to him, because he learned to trust God in all things.
James is predeceased by his parents, James H. Jones, Sr. and Pearl G. Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory seven siblings, Rita Wilson (George) of Chesapeake, Juanita Bullock (Larry) of Portsmouth, Duanita Jones of Virginia Beach, Ivan Jones (Nicole) of Chesapeake, Rodney Jones (KiKi) of Portsmouth, Vicki Jones of Virginia Beach, Brian Jones of Suffolk, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Philadelphia Church of Christ Disciples, 925 Canal Drive, Chesapeake. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
