On Friday, November 17, 2017, James Edward Mason slipped peacefully into eternal rest. He was born to the late Leander and Mary Mason on July 23, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was predeceased by a brother Charles Cherry.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Joyce Mason, a son Donald Lewis (Annette), a daughter DeRue Heard (Ira), seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters Ida Barber and Georgianna Mason, one brother Leander Mason, and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 5pm-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
