Mr. James Faustino Turner was born on March 23, 1933 to the late Elouise Turner and Faustino Licud in Annapolis, Maryland. He departed this life on March 1, 2015 at Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
James graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk, VA, class of 1951 and attended Little State College in the year of 1952. After one year of college, he joined the United States Army.
James was a loving brother to his parents and siblings. He had a generous spirit about him. He was a humble person with a beautiful soul. He had a favorite nephew, Michael Allbritton of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two nieces Kelly and Kendall of Norfolk,VA; and three great nieces, Porshia, Starr, and Jada that he loved from his heart.
Having accepting Christ in his earlier years, James had a love for the Bible. He loved to watch Christian programs from television. He could not attend church services often because of his health. Some days he would discuss with his siter, Christine different subjects from the bible. Some mornings at breakfast, he would sit n the porch to read scripture from hiis little Bible. In the evening, after 10 pm, he would say, "let's go see our sister, Eve."
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Pedro "Pete" Marquez and Royal Thomas Richardson, Jr.
Left with memories are his three sisters, Connie Hunter of Philadelphia, PA, Eve Winfield of Norfolk, VA, and Christine Allbritton of Chesapeake, VA whom he lovingly called at times "Whoopee;" one brother, Carl Marquez of Norfolk, VA; 15 nephews and nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.
