Javante Shamal Phipps transitioned to eternal peace on December 30, 2016. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 12, 1993 to Caroline Phipps and Juan Porter. He was educated through Chesapeake Public Schools.  Javante affectionately known to many, genuinely loved everyone and always had a welcoming smile. He was a kind and compassionate son, brother, and friend to all.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Josalie Benjamin and Malcom Phipps, and his paternal grandfather, Charles Porter Sr.

He is survived by his mother Caroline Phipps of Chesapeake, Virginia, and father Juan Porter of Palmyra, Virginia; sisters, Javianna Phipps of Chesapeake, Virginia, Mariah McLeace, Laura Lee Porter, and LaShay Smith all of Suffolk, Virginia; brother, Issac Williams of Fredericksburg, Virginia; paternal grandmother, Shirley Mae Porter, four aunts, four uncles, and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held from 4-7pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will held on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Charlottesville , Virginia.
