Chesapeake—Jeryl A. McLeod, 62, of the 900 block of New Mill Drive was called home to be with the Lord on Jan. 29, 2015. On May 26, 1952, in Queens, N.Y., God saw fit to bless the late Wilbert B. Jenkins Sr. and Sadie Jenkins with a beautiful baby girl. She was raised with a strong and loving hand of God. Jeryl graduated from Springfield High School in Queens, N.Y., and completed college studies at SUNY Geneseo and Queens College. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Education, she accepted a position at American Express where she worked in Human Resources for 16 years. She later relocated to Chesapeake, Va where she worked at QVC for another 18 years as a Senior Human Resources Generalist until her retirement. Jeryl was truly loved, accepted and admired by many. Jeryl was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Morris McLeod. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Cheyne and son in love, Steve. She also leaves an older brother Wilbert Jr. (Gail), along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and all of her adopted children.
A funeral will be held at 11a.m. Thursday at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.Viewing will be Wednesday from 3-7pm at Pretlow and sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
