IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessie Deloris
Mejia
July 24, 1962 – March 7, 2023
Although our hearts are heavy, we can still smile just remembering you, your love, your laugh, your voice, your compassion and your strength. Sorrow we feel, but we will go on drawing on the lessons you taught us. You taught us by your actions, not just your words. Although grief hangs heavy in our hearts, we feel joy knowing that you are at peace with God and suffering no more. Although you are gone, we can still sing just because of your unconditional love you have always shown us.
Jessie Deloris Coston was born on July 24, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York to Apostle William F. Coston, and the late Jessie Mae Coston. Deloris attended New York City Public Schools and received her high school diploma in Virginia. She furthered her education as a Certified Medical Assistant. Deloris was joined into marriage on April 12, 2007 to Jose Walter Mejia. Deloris and Jose became partners in business. They spent time advancing and developing skills in various areas like decorating, remodeling, construction, carpentry, metal scraping recycling, painting, and performing electrical and engineering tasks.
Deloris was musically inclined with a beautiful contralto voice and sang in the church choir. She absolutely loved children, and often took care of many of the children in her family. Deloris was a very giving and loving person who loved to make the people around her happy. She was also a dedicated person to whatever she was asked to do. Deloris loved her family and would always be in a hurry to help whenever she could.
Deloris later in life began to experience several health issues which had a changing effect on her life. Yet she remained positive and hopeful while trusting in the Lord.
Deloris entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Mae Coston, and her brother Marvin Young Coston. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Jose W. Mejia, her father, Apostle William F. Coston, her sisters Lorraine O'Bannard (Johnny), Carolyn White (Adolph, deceased ), and Naomi Coston Bell (Keith), two brothers, Landford Perry, and William Gregory Coston, a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, brothers and sister in-laws, relatives and friends.
