Chesapeake - Joanne Bright Kimpson, 55, of the 900 block of Portland Street departed this life July 6, 2009 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she was employed for 26 years. Born October 13, 1953 in Chesapeake, she was the daughter of the late Eula Nixon Allen and Henry Bright, Sr.

She was predeceased by her sister, Judy Allen, and her brother, Henry Bright. Survivors include her daughter, LaKesha Bright (Thomas) and grandson, Kenny Bright; seven sisters, Joyce B. Ferebee, Ella Lewis, Lillie Allen, Trina Moore, Jacqueline Bright, Lula Faye Hamilton and Angela Happer; seven brothers, George Lee Bright, Clinton Bright, William Bright, Tony Allen, Richard Allen, David Bright, and Robert Bright, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.





A funeral service will be held noon Monday at Bethany Baptist Church, 2587 Campostella Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be Sunday from 12pm - 5pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
