Obituary
Chesapeake - Joey Pernell Powell passed into eternal rest on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Frank M. and Eunice T. Powell.
Joey was a 1980 graduate of Indian River High School, Virginia Tech and Alabama A&M. He was a member of New Mount Olive AME Church, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and South Hampton Roads Pan-Hellenic Council.
Joey is survived by a sister, Sharon D. Powell of Atlanta, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, at New Mount Olive AME Church, 1953 Campostella Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 3 – 7pm Thursday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 5:30pm – 7pm. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
