John Henry Beamon, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2020. He was born November 22, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late George and Ailene Beamon, and was predeceased by his very close friend Illinois Johnson. John worked for various restaurants, eventually retiring from Uncle Louis restaurant after fifteen years of service due to illness.
John joined The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception under the leadership of Father Jim Curran. He served on various ministries: Usher ministry, Bereavement ministry, and the St. Mary Food Pantry, which he helped serve many of Norfolk citizens. John was an active member of The Knights of Peter Claver Barrett Newell Council 279, and he was very active in his community.
Left to cherish his memory is a very dear friend and sister, Vicki Haskins (Minister Keith), his Godmother Elaine Dunn, and adopted sisters, Mary, Tracey, and Barrie, and a host of friends.
John was a loving and outgoing person who was always willing to help anyone in need. Wherever he went he made a friend, and he will be truly be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held from 6-7pm Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake.
