Jonas Johnson Barco affectionately known as "JoAnn" was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Born in Morehead City, N.C, Jonas attended Morehead City and Beaufort Public Schools. She also attended Fayetteville State College, and worked many yaers in Norfolk until she retired.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Barco. Survivors include her daughter, Marion Luvida Barco; granddaughter, Latavia MarKeeta NyChole Jones; grandson, Glendon Maurice Steven Barcliff; a very special daughter, Kenyatta Copeland-Evans; nieces, Frankie L. Jones, and Kathy Jony; a host of nieces and nephews of the Barco, Hester, Bryant, Monroe, Johnson, and Houge families, and her Morehead City, NC family.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Friday at New Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be 4-7pm Thursday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
