Chesapeake - Juanita Shirley Freeman, 72, affectionately known as Mumz, of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd. and formerly of 404 Mapleshore Drive departed this life May 31, 2007. Born in Harlem, New York, she was employed with the Norfolk Public School System as a bus driver for over 32 years until her retirement. She received numerous awards for her job dedication with the school system



She is predeceased by her mother, Pauline F. Mizelle and stepfather, Frank W. Mizelle. Survivors include her son, Reginald W. Freeman of Washington, DC, a half sister, Esther Richmond and a half brother, Thomas F. Mizelle. She also leaves three dear friends whom she thought of as sons, Anthony Mitchell and Michael Hailey of Maryland, and Darrell Dewayne Allen of Washington, DC, and a special friend and roommate, Vivian Roulhac of Chesapeake and a host of relatives and friends.



A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers please send donations in her memory to your local Arthritis Foundation.
