Chesapeake - Kathaleen Smith Washington, "Kitty", 59, of the 4100 block of Williamson Street departed this life on March 19, 2008. Born in Virginia Beach, she was owner of Ultra Touch Cleaning Service for over 29 years until her retirement. She was a member a Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she was a member of Choir #2. Also, she was an active member of the NAACP Eastern Star Blooming Light and the Lagrand Cour Social and Civic Club.
She is predeceased by her parents, William B. and Ardell Smith. Survivors include her husband, General Washington III, "G.W." of Chesapeake; two daughters, Cassandra D. Farley (Ron) of Baltimore, MD and Sherri Y. Gray (Byron M.) of Chesapeake; one son, E. Tyrone Washington (Johnnice) of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; six sisters, Rebecca Harper of Portsmouth, V. Arthella Hill, Clara Smith, Ardell V. Smith, Angelia Mays, Janet L. Smith (Bernard) all of Chesapeake; three brothers, Ernest Smith of Chesapeake, Allen Smith (Diane) of Virginia Beach and Melvin J. Smith (Betty) of Chesapeake; two aunts, Elsie Wright of Chesapeake, Arthella Deberry of Chesapeake; one uncle, Anderson Gardner (Mabel) of Virginia Beach, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 12 pm - 5 pm Sunday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake
