Chesapeake – Katie E. Burress-Copper, 85, of the 700 block of River Creek Road was called home to be with the Lord, on April 29, 2011. Born in Hickory, she was a longtime, faithful member of First Baptist Church Money Point, where she served on the Senior Usher Board, Pastor's Aide and Hospitability until her health began to fail.
She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Roy Cooper, parents, Alexander Burress and Queen Griffin-Burress, sister, Lillie Lathan, son, Louis Cooper, daughters, Betty Ann Cooper and Edith Cooper-Marshall, grandson, Gary Cooper, and son-in-law, James W. Taylor, Sr. Survivors include four daughters, Levina Taylor, Queen Brooks (William, Sr.) Paulette Cooper, and Brenda Boyd (Larry); five sons, Willie, Danny, Everett, Rex and Ricky Cooper; daughter-n-law, Barbara P. Cooper, eighteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church Money Point. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Friday, from 3pm – 8pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 7-8pm.
