November 21, 1946 – January 14, 2020
Kenneth D. McCoy Sr. was born in Princess Anne County, VA on November 21, 1946 to the late Leonard E. McCoy Sr. and Devetta (Katie) Eure McCoy.
Kenneth graduated from Union Kempsville High School in Princess Anne County, Virginia. From there, he attended Norfolk State College. While at Norfolk State, he met and married the love of his life Patsy Wiltz from Portsmouth, VA.. After attending Norfolk State, he enlisted in the United States Army.
Kenneth was a faithful member of New Light Baptist Church of VA. Beach, VA. For years he served diligently as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Junior and Senior Choirs. Regularly he volunteered for the church food ministry and was a dedicated member of the School of Ministry. Kenneth was passionate about wood working and landscaping.
Kenneth is pre-deceased by; sister Doris McCoy Bellamy, brothers George E. McCoy Sr. and Jerry A. McCoy Sr and grandchild Kirk D. McCoy Jr. Kenneth is survived by; his wife Patsy Wiltz McCoy. Sons; Kenneth D. McCoy, Jr. (Sue) of Anchorage, AK, Kirk D. McCoy and Keith P. McCoy both of Portsmouth, VA, Kevin W. McCoy of Denton, TX. Grandchildren; Megan, Syreeta, Kenneth III, Adrianna, Keanna, Elijah. Great grandchild Syreena. Sister; Jean McCoy Taylor, of Chesapeake, VA. Brothers; Leonard McCoy, Jr. (Sandy), of Chesapeake, VA. and Michael E. McCoy of VA Beach, VA. and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church,5549 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Viewing 3 pm until 5 pm Monday, January 20, 2020 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Liberty Street, Chesapeake. Burial will be at 9:00 am Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk.
