Chesapeake – Rev. Kenneth Allen McDonald, Sr., 89, was called home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014. A native of Chesapeake, he retired from the Defense Logistics Agency after 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph AME Zion Church where he served as an Associate Minister, a Trustee, Superintendent of Sunday school, and a Sunday school teacher.
He is predeceased by his wife, Doris Wilson McDonald. Survivors include his two daughters, Doris Chavis and Sheila Harleston (Robert) of Maryland; two sons, Kenneth A. McDonald (Cynthia) and Ralph McDonald (Donette) of Maryland; two brothers, Seth McDonald (Odessa) and Francis McDonald; two sisters, Tama Johnson and Maidie Blount; three sisters-in-law, Virginia McDonald, M. Louise Griffin, and Dorothy M. Morris; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph AME Zion Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 3-7pm Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.
