Kenneth Edward Monroe was called home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2017. Born in Norfolk, he was the youngest child of Daisy and Bristol Monroe. After attending Maury High School, he served in the US Marines Corps. He is predeceased by his wife Evergreen Monroe.

He is survived by two sisters Vivian Monroe-Hester (Herman) of Norfolk , and Annette Joyner (Earl) of Clinton, Maryland; one niece Anita Hester-Crocker (O'Brian); four nephews Kevin Monroe, Christopher Hester (Michelle),  Earl Joyner Jr.,  and Stefan Joyner  (Chrystal),  and a host of other relatives  and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church. Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr.  Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
