Norfolk - Rev. Lee Roy Gordon, 93, of the 500 block of South Main Street was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2007. Born in Chesapeake, he received his formal education at Norfolk State College, where he majored in foreign languages. He was a longshoreman and an interpreter for Norshipco until his retirement.
Rev. Gordon was a longtime member of Gordon Chapel AME Church where he began his Christian journey at an early age.
Rev. Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Iris Gordon, parents, Edward and Mary Gordon, children, Earl Gordon, Mildred Alexander and Carlton Gordon and four grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Shirley Lyons and Undine McCoy; sons, Glenwood Gordon and Lee Roy Gordon, Jr. (Jean); twenty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, four nephews, one niece, relatives and friends.
A home going celebration will be held noon Monday at Gordon Chapel AME Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held 12pm - 5pm Sunday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
