On April 21, 2018, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Lenora Smith departed this life at Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts. Lenora known to everyone as "Sug", was born on September 25, 1924 to the late Eliza and John Smith.

Lenora was married to the late Booker T Smith for over 60 years. She attended public schools in Princess Anne County. At a very young age, Sug joined the New Light Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member. Always a woman of service, Sug served in multiple positions in the church; she sang in the senior choir, served on the usher board, and was treasurer of the Deaconess board.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, one daughter, Adelle Merritt and her husband, Vincent Bernard Merritt of Raynham, MA; one son; Arnold Maurice Smith, and an adopted daughter, Mary Anne Bryant, both of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren: Vincent Keith Merritt (Liset), Kevin Scot Merritt (Tammy), Kameko Dillard, Kamarie Smith, Kelly Smith, and Booker T Maurice Smith; nine great grandchildren, , two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A home going service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5549 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing will be Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6pm until 8pm  at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
