Leslie Mae Riddick Smith Cobbs was called home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2020. She was born at 106 East Berkley Avenue, South Norfolk (now Chesapeake), Virginia on a dirt road, on May 10, 1919, 100 years ago. She was the third daughter of Mary Faulkner Riddick and Eugene Riddick, both Norfolkians. Across the street at 1020 East Berkley Ave., Norfolk, Virginia on a cobblestone street lived her maternal widowed grandmother, Molly Burrell Faulkner.Leslie was preceded in death by: her parents; only brother, Linwood; and sisters, Shirley, Beatrice, Ruth and Marian.

Leslie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, The Honorable Leslie Elaine Smith Turner; her grandsons, Frank Seaton Turner II (Tara) and Terrence Wesley Turner; her great grandchildren, Grant Seaton Turner and Karis Elizabeth Turner; a special daughter, Dr. Cathine Gilchrist Scott (Robert), her three daughters, Gina, Glenda, Gretchen and grands; three sister-in-laws, Hazel Margarete Smith, Evelyn Cobbs Cowart (Ruben), and Alfreda Cobbs; a goddaughter, Erica Carrington; cousins Hortense Greene and Alvino Robinson; John Bland (a special son}; a faithful friend Shirley W. S. Nottingham; a host of other cousins, grand and great grand nieces and nephews; a Marian Manor family and Desiree Mitchell, Assistant Administrator; her certified nursing assistant, Angie Gilbert; plus a wealth of friends.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2020 at New Central Baptist Church, 700 Walker Ave, Norfolk. The funeral service and burial will be private. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
