On Saturday, January 31, 2015, Lewis Godfrey, III of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away at Chesapeake Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. He was a Navy Civilian retiree for the federal government. Lewis was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Ola Godfrey, II. He is survived by his wife, Joann of Chesapeake, his daughter Jessena (Lawrence) of Newport News, his son Cedric (Caryn) of Alexandria, VA, his sister Vivian Stanley (Herbert) of Chesapeake, two grandsons and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held Friday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church (Chapel) 884 Bells Mills Road, Chesapeake. Viewing will be at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street on Thursday, February 5, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers that monetary donations be made in the name of Lewis Godfrey to the "The Elders House" at 215 Las Gaviotas Blvd., Chesapeake.
