Lewis R. Stubbs, age 78, born August 15, 1938, departed this life on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Fox Chase Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was the first of eleven children of the late Corwell and Gertrude Stubbs of Lackey, Virginia. He joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church at an early age and faithfully attended church activities. He graduated from James Weldon Johnson School in Yorktown in 1956. He has live in the Washington, DC and Maryland areas for the past 60 years. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories 10 siblings, Verdell Whittington and Nathaniel Stubbs (Barbara) of Forestville, Maryland, Geraldine Estelle of Temple Hills, Maryland, William Stubbs (Linda) of Newport News, Virginia, Ernest Stubbs (Teresa) of York County, Virginia, Gladys Evans (Melvin), Raymond Stubbs, and Linda Stubbs of Chesapeake, Virginia, Ernestine Barnes and Maxine Overton (Michael) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and a host of many other nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.

His homegoing service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor H. Patrick Cason on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 1:00 pm, where viewing will be held from 11am until 1pm the day of the service.
