Chesapeake - Lillian Beatrice Macy, 99, of the 1200 block of Marge Drive died February 18, 2007.
Lillian Beatrice Macy was born in Norfolk, Virginia on December 9, 1907. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Reginald K. Macy; her mother, Allie Ruffin; and sister, Virginia Scott.
Lillian attended and later taught at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Norfolk, which is currently known as St. Mary's Chtholic for nine years.
In 1932, she moved to Brooklyn and then on to New York City and at that time she attended St. Thomas Catholic Church.
After a short time she met, married, and shared a glorious relationship with her husband, Reginald Macy. Later Lillian joined the Church of the Master (Presbyterian Church USA) where she worshipped for many years, taught Sunday school and also as hostess for the coffee hour. As Sunday school teacher, she delighted the children with her knowledge and childlike approach to teaching the bible.
Lillian was a true servant of God in church as well as outside of the church. She served as hostess for the International Day Program and was a viable part of the East Harlem community. She will always be remembered by family and friends, wearing one of her many aprons.
Affectionately known as "Aunt Lil" she is remembered by her nieces and nephews, whom she adored for exposing them to various activities and foods cross culturally. She loved Broadway plays, operas, ballets and would always take one of ?the kids? to whatever she attended.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Catherine Lovett; one brother, Apostle William R. Scott (United House of Prayer), her nieces and nephews, Margaret Bailey, Sandra Minix-Turner, Robert Lovett, Jr., Diane Osei-Tutu, Renee Lovett, Howard Lovett, Jacquelyn Lovett, Selinda Lovett, Janice Scott, William Scott, Jr., and Angelo Scott, and a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
