Lillie Earnestine Langley was born on January 8, 1934, to the late John Oliver Bazemore, Sr. and Ethel Mae Rooks.
She attended John B. Bond High School in Lewiston, North Carolina. After moving from NC to VA, she attended Norfolk Technical Center where she received her certificate as a Certified Cashier. Many who knew her knew she loved to work, providing services at various local neighborhood grocery stores as a cashier until she retired. Throughout her career, she became more than just a cashier. She was a mother, a sister, and a friend consumed with love and admiration by many.
She was a devoted member of Calvary Church of God in Christ located in Norfolk, VA. She was a member of the United Order of Tent, Saunder Jewel No. 730 and the Order of Eastern Star, Adah Chapter No. 20.
On April 23, 1953, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Langley. She was the mother of nine children, one of whom, Vernestine Bazemore, preceded her in death.
Earnestine was preceded in death by both parents, John Oliver Bazemore, Sr. and Ethel Rooks, and her brothers Benjamin Rooks, Earl Rooks, Melvin Bazemore, Oliver Bazemore and Louis Bazemore. She leaves to cherish her life and memories, her sister Sarah Peele, two brothers Clarence Rooks and Harold Rooks, one sister-in-law Verna Bazemore, her sons Charles Bazemore, Barry Langley, Dwight Langley, James Williams and Robert Scott (Janella Scott); and her daughters Ethel Langley, Anne Langley and Rosalind Hammond, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins along with other cherished relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
