Mid-morning on Thursday, July 21, 2022, Linda Ann Bailey received her wings to fly away to be with the Lord. Linda was born on August 1, 1956 in Princess Anne County (now Virginia Beach) to Alberta Dawson and Herman Futrell (both deceased). She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at the New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where her grandfather, Rev. John A. Ferebee was the founder and pastor. She was a faithful member and was always willing and ready to take on any assignment or task until her health began to decline.
She was married to Gerald who was not only her husband, but her best friend for 46 years. Linda had a gifted smile for everyone! She graduated from Great Bridge High School and went on to receive CNA training. Linda worked for Guardian Care (now Autumn Care) for over 30 years; lastly holding the position of Activities Director. She was an avid fan of the now Washington Commanders.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband, Gerald Bailey; her son, Vincent (Tony) Ferebee (Takisha); her brothers, Raymond Ferebee (Monica) and Larry Ferebee (Sheila); two brothers, preceded her in death, Joseph Dawson (Annie) and Harry Dawson (Gloria); her sisters, Barbara Harper (Tony deceased) and Teresa Dawson (Bernard Lowry); grandchildren, Jonathan Ferebee, Jasmine Ferebee, Janelle Sutton, Ahkiel Moore, Jayla Cannon, Terrance Bland, and Lance Bland; sisters-in-law, Barbara Harper Anderson (William); Laura (Genise) Gorum, Karen Bailey and Elaine Harper (Curtis deceased); brothers-in-law, Charlie Harper, Jr. (Camelia); Olander Williams (Doris Christine deceased); Earl Bailey (Vicky deceased) and Franklin Bailey (Anita deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1765 S Military Hwy,Chesapeake. Viewing wiill be Monday, July 25, 2022 from 5 pm until 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
