Norfolk – Linette M. Pledger, 45, of the 3500 block of Cape Henry Ave, Norfolk passed away September 27, 2009 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after battling a long illness. She was born in East Orange, NJ and reared in Norfolk. She attended Norfolk Public Schools, worked as a CNA at Beth Sholom and DePaul Medical Center. Linette was a faithful member of Faith In Action Church until her death.

She is survived by her parents, Pauline Pledger of Chesapeake and Linwood Pledger, Jr. of Secacus, NJ; one son, Dontay Pledger and his wife, Shanika of Norfolk; two brothers, Timothy and Troy Pledger of Norfolk; three sisters, Donna and Deanna Pledger of Chesapeake, Keisha P. Artis and her husband, Leander of Chesapeake; one granddaughter, ShanTay Pledger of Norfolk; three special aunts, Barbara Hilliard, Vivian Trusty and Pauline Coston; one special uncle, Zack Sparks, Jr.; two special friends, Leticia Powell and Joyce James, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at noon at Faith in Action Church, 3110 Sewells Point Rd., Norfolk. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Friday from 2– 7 pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 6 – 7pm.
