Obituary

Linwood Earl Maye was born to Estelle Maye and the late Jesse Maye on July 22, 1952 in Snow Hill, North Carolina. On Wednesday, December 27, 2017, God called him home to rest. He attended Norview High School, and was a member of the marching band. After graduating from high school in 1971, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1972.

Linwood was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Nadine Barnett. He leaves to mourn, his longtime girlfriend, Nancy Randolph; his mother Estelle Maye; three brothers, James Maye (Furoo Harshem), Jesse Maye, Jr., and Gray Maye all of Norfolk; two sisters, Lillian Carson Warren, and Rose Maye Bradley both of Norfolk; James Smith who he treated as a grandson; four nephews, ten nieces, and a host of great and great-great nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, Interment will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be from 6pm until 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
