Chesapeake - On June 8, 2012, our hearts were completely broken when our mother, our angel, and our very best friend, Loraine Barnett age 83, of the 1300 block of Bainbridge Blvd, closed her eyes for the very last time, and took the hand of our Lord as he led her up the stairs to Heaven. Loraine was retired from Sam's Stop N Shop on Bainbridge Blvd. Many of those who knew her from the store knew her as "Grandma."

Preceding her in death was her husband of 43 years, Neal Barnett. Left to cherish her memories are three sons, Richard Barnett of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Michael Barnett and Darren Barnett (Belinda) of Chesapeake; four daughters, Linda Farrow and Rosemary Leigh of Chesapeake, and Phyllis Anderson and Susan Hooper of Portsmouth, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Hampton National Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3pm-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com .
