Bronx, New York - Louis Randolph Cooper, affectionately known as "Norfolk City", "Luke" and "Lou", of the 3000 block of Bronx Blvd., departed this life June 15, 2007. He was born on May 2, 1948 in Norfolk . He was a graduate of Crestwood High School, and was employed in Virginia until he moved to New York in 1973.
He is predeceased by his father, Willie Cooper, and two sisters, Edith Cooper and Betty-Ann Cooper. Survivors include his wife Barbara A. Cooper of New York, his mother, Katie Cooper of Chesapeake; two daughters, Felica Halsey and Dedera Mills (Sterling Jr.) of Chesapeake; four sisters, Levinia Taylor, Queen Brooks (William, Sr.), Paulette Cooper and Brenda Boyd (Larry); one son, Randolph Wright (Michelle) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; (five brothers), Willie U. Cooper of Ysilanti, Mich, Danny Cooper, Evertt Cooper (Patricia), Rex Cooper and Ricky Cooper of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held noon Saturday at New Galilee Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Friday from 2pm - 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where a wake service will be held from 6pm - 7pm. The family will receive friends at 3212 Quinby Ct, Straw Acres, Chesapeake.
