On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, the angel of mercy came into our midst and gave our beloved Luther Irby eternal rest. Luther was born May 2, 1941 in South Boston, VA to Iren Irby Dixon and Hale Irby.

Luther was educated in the South Boston Public Schools and retired from Old Dominion Freight after more than 40 years of faithful service. Luther enjoyed fishing in his spare time along with all types of sports, especially baseball. Everyone who knew him knew he was a die-hard Cowboys fan.

Luther is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lula Mae Irby, Sons Bryant and Wallace Irby, 2 sisters, Bobbie Ann Womack and Sue Alice Johnson, four grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
