Chesapeake - M. Marie Brumsey, 57, of the 4600 block Old Fox Trail departed this life February 19, 2008. Born in Portsmouth, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1967, and attended Norfolk State University. She was employed with Verizon Services Corporation for 26 years as a Project Manager until her retirement in 2002.



She is predeceased by her mother, Lillian Johnson, father Jacob Brumsey, sister, Claudia Brumsey Mayo, and brother, Jacob Brumsey, Jr. Survivors include three daughters, Veronica Hagood (Carl) of Richmond, Chelsea Brumsey of Virginia Beach and Regina Brumsey-Hill (Jermaine) of Chesapeake; one sister, Brenda Shaw (James) of Portsmouth; two brothers, Turan Brumsey of Chesapeake and Larry Brooks(Mavis) of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Eboni Hagood of Richmond, Jaylyn Brumsey of Chesapeake, Sade Brumsey Miller of Virginia Beach, and Xavier Hagood of Richmond; one aunt, Verna Gordon of Chesapeake; a special cousin, Shirley Shivers of Chesapeake , a host of relatives and friends.



A celebration of the life of M. Marie Brumsey will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, with Reverend Walter E. Mitchell, Sr. Officiating.
