Norfolk – Mable Simpson of Oakleaf Forest, died on December 20, 2014 at Harbour Grace Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Born in Gilmerton, Virgina, she was a mother and chief cook for 30 plus years in the Norfolk Public School System. She is a member of First Baptist Church, Berkley where she served as an active choir member for decades.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by her son Paul David Simpson, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, daughter Marion Ferebee (James) of Norfolk, VA, granddaughters - Dr. Bonnie Simpson Mason (Thomas) of Chicago, IL and Dr. Sherri Simpson of Atlanta, GA, and great-grandsons – Thomas Mason, Jr. and Paul David Mason. Also surviving is her caregiver Valarie Reid of Newnan, GA, nephews- Michael and Fred (Lorraine) Simpson and nieces-Rhonda (Ricky) Brown, Angela Simpson Holloway, Marlene Simpson Ferguson, and Anita Simpson Caswell. Beloved children of her dear sister, Marie Davis and friends of the family include Stephanie Simpson Brown, Chinyere' Brown, Amina Brown Linda Young Simpson, Byron Young and Dr. William Curtis will mourn her loss.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, Berkley by Dr. William D. Tyree, III, where Mrs. Simpson will be viewed from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday. Burial will be at the Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, Virginia immediately after the service. The family will assemble at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street Chesapeake, VA 23324 at 11 am for the procession.
