Reverend Margaret Barnhill Alston of Chesapeake, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Margaret was born on August 21, 1931 in Oak City, Martin County, North Carolina. She was surrounded by family at her passing. Margret was a strong willed woman who was loved by many. She was preceded in in her death by her husband James Alston, youngest son Kirk Jackson, and siblings Jo Ethel Phillips, Marie Barnhill Freeman, Flossie Barnhill Nixon, Laverne Barnhill Lewis and Luke Barnhill.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Jackson (Mary Jackson); her daughters Rawanda Smith (William Smith), Eileen Todd; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will he held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11am at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home; 500 Liberty Street Chesapeake. She will be laid to rest following the service at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive family and friends at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home on Friday from 3 to 7pm.
