Marie D. Covington, 40 years old of Virginia Beach, Virginia, known to family as "Lizzie," was suddenly taken away from us on August 18, 2022. Marie was born June 24, 1982, in New Haven, Connecticut to Dalphine Fredericks and Jeffery Carolina. She grew up in the Dixwell neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut, where she attended New Haven public schools.

Marie graduated from Eli Whitney Tech in Hamden, Connecticut in 2000. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was employed at WaWa convenience stores for 6 years, and during that time she met a plethron of new friends that be came like family to her and her children. Marie had a smile that would light up any room. Her loving smile and kind heart will be truly missed the most.

Marie is predeceased by her father, Jeffery Covington, sister Carla Covington, and stepfather Lawrence Fredericks. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother Dalphine Fredericks; four children, Sharnaye Covington, Carla Covington, Dea'Vyon Covington, and Kha'Leah Halliburton-Covington; five brothers, Jeffery and Jose Covington, and Lawrence, Isaiah, and Jordan Fredericks; sisters, Yvonne, and Lavasha Covington, and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held from 3pm until 5pm Sunday, August 28, 2022 at First Baptist Church Campostella, 1510 Conoga Street, Norfolk. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
