Obituary

Mario Hernandez was born to Julio and Vicenta Erasma Jorrin Hernandez on May 1, 1962 in Matanzas, Cuba. He was one of 22 children. Mario came to the United States in 1980 to have a better life and to help his family in Cuba. He graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. Mario had many jobs but his last and favorite job was working for Amtrak where he received early retirement. Mario leaves behind his loving wife Mildred Spence Hernandez, 5 children, Mikaela, Mario, Ana, Hannah and Leena, his father-in-law Elder Joseph Spence, sister-in-law Kimberly Spence Pride(husband Elder Joseph Pride,jr) and Etheline Hernandez and a host of family and friends here in the United States and Cuba. Mario loved to fish and cook for his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As we say our final goodbyes, we have the peace and the reassurance of Mario's soul, as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.Mario Evelio Hernandez entered eternal rest on February 29, 2020. He is survived by his wife Mildred "Mimi" Spence-Hernandez; five children, Ana Rome, Hannah Evelia, Mikaela and Mario (mother, Etheline Hernandez), and Leena.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, Virginia 23324.
