Mary Alice Albritton was born on March 29, 1945 in Wilson County, North Carolina to the late Charlie and Eldora Barnes. Better known to family and friends as "Mary Alice" "Aunt Mary" and "Ms. Mary".  She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia.

Mary loved cooking for her family, especially on Sundays. She was a very outspoken person, and she made sure she told you what was on her mind and she did not bite her tongue.

She was predeceased by her husband: Melvin Albritton, daughter: Pamela Hyman, grandsons: Darrius Hyman and Cornelious Winder, Jr. and brother: Willie Norris Barnes

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter: Tawanda Winder (Cornelious), sons: Antonio Taylor (Kendra),  Wayne Taylor, and Mario Albritton (Teyshone), son-in-law: Gary Hyman, Sr.; grandchildren: Donte, Antonio,  Shawanda, Michael, Ashley, Wayne Jr., Ta'shonna, Gary Jr.,  Khristian, Jaquita, Da'quon, Solomon, Mario Jr.; great grandchildren: Keilah, Catherine, Logan, Ta'Nya, Ma'kyia, Amir, Ameer, Aubree, Nia, Cam and Porter. step-mother: Mary Elizabeth Barnes; sisters: Sallie Williams and Carolyn Barnes; step-brothers: Melvin and George Hunter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, 500 Liberty Street, Chesapeake, where the viewing will be Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral Home. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk.
