Mary Blocton Alexander of the 800 block of Gatefield Lane was called home to be with the Lord, December 27, 2007. Born in Tyler, Alabama, she was one of ten children born to the late David and Mary Harrison Blocton. She was employed with the Chesapeake Public School System for 20 years until her retirement in 1993.
Mary was a faithful and active member of Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as president of the Pastor's Aide, a deaconess, and Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Raymond Alexander; a daughter, Adrienne Alexander of Hightstown, New Jersey; a son, Raymond Alexander Jr., a daughter-in-law, Michelle Powell Alexander; two grandsons, Tyler Alexander and Harrison Alexander of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Minnie Albritton of Detroit, Michigan; five brothers, Frank Blocton, Albert Blocton, Sinnie Blocton, Walter Blocton, and Lee Goodwin all of Selma, Alabama; five godchildren, Richard Coley Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Keith McMillan of Sherman Oaks, California, Lewis Richardson, Mashanda Carr, and Victoria Seymore all of Chesapeake, a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives and friends.
A home going service will be held noon Monday at Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
