Mary Alberta Griffin, affectionately known as "sister," was called to Glory on July 26, 2017. She was born to the late Hattie Mae Clark and Artice L. Spencer on November 27, 1925 in Belhaven, North Carolina. She attended school in North Carolina until she moved to Norfolk in 1933 at the age of 8. In 1948, Mary married Aaron A. Griffin and they were blessed in this union with 5 children, Barbara M. Reid, Victoria D. Robinson, Aaron A. Griffin, Jr., Rosemary Griffin, Donnell Griffin, and Gernell S. Harrison who was like a daughter. They were married for over 50 years.

Mary was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Campostella where she served faithfully. Mary was a devoted wife, a loyal sister, a loving, supportive mother, an indulgent grandmother and great-grandmother, an adoring aunt, and a cherished friend.

A viewing will be held on August 4, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home. The Homegoing celebration will be Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Campostella. Rev. Tyrone Jackson, Jr. will officiate.
