Mrs. Mary Simmons Harrell, 74, of the 1900 block of Robert Hall Blvd., departed this life on February 25, 2014. She was born in Cape Charles, Virginia. She was employed with the Chesapeake Public School System until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert H. Harrell; her children, Robert Simmons, Andre Simmons, Sheila Harrell, Darlene Golden and Kevin Harrell; a brother, Joseph Pruden; a sister, Martha Simmons Harrell, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Celia Mae Simmons, her son, Terry Harrell, and her daughter Dondra Harrell-Winstead.

A funeral service will be held noon Monday at St. Mark UCC, 521 Obendorfer Road in Norfolk. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held Sunday from 12-5pm at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
