Chesapeake - Mary Elizabeth Sutton quietly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday. December 1, 2013 at her residence. She was born to the late Sarah Brooks and Aaron Langston. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her stepfather, Norman (Pop) Fleming and her brother, William (Bubba) Brooks.

Mary worked as a dietary cook for Norfolk Community Hospital for 28 years. She loved to cook and have big dinners at her house. She also enjoyed feeding others in her community. She was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a missionary until her health began to fail.

She is survived by her son, Kevin A. Langston (Sabrina); three grandchildren, Kamera Langston, Kevin and Kendric Langston; a sister, Mary (Kate) Ricks; a sister in-law, Mattie Brooks; a great uncle, William Brooks, Jr.; a best friend, Marie Harris; a special friend, Woodley Brown; her extended family from Wilson, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

A home going service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, at Mt. Olive Baptist by Rev. Walter E. Mitchell. Sr. Interment will follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
