Chesapeake-Early,Monday morning just before the break of day, God dispatched an angel to call from labor to reward our daughter, niece and cousin,Mary Estelle Wilson.
Estelle as we fondly called her, was the only child born to Cora E. Wislon and the late Robert "Bob" Wilson on April 29, 1958. Estelle was indeed the "apple" of her father's eye.
In 1976 Estelle graduated from Great Bridge High School. She was employed by Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, formerly known as Chesapeake General Hospital, in the housekeeping department. She was a dedicated worker for over 20 years.
Estelle was a faithful and devoted life-time member of the Gordon Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and served on the Steward Board. She also was a member of the choir where she lifted her "dynamite" soprano voice in praise to God. Estelle could often be found working diligently in the kitchen helping to prepare delicious meals for visiting churches. Her bright and bubbly demeanor will truly be missed.
Estelle leaves to cherish her memory her dear darling mother, Cora E. Wilson , her aunties, Rosa L. Turner and Emma Wilson, a very special and devoted friend Sharon Ivey (and children), cousins who were more like siblings; Robert L. Wilson, Mary A. Wilson (John); Augustus Williams (Mildred), Melvin Williams (Sarah) and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Gordon Chapel AME Church, 1164 South Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake with Rev. Dr. Mary C. Kimble, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Luke Cemetery, Chesapeake. Viewing will be held 12pm - 5pm, Sunday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
